Recoleta Cemetery Photographs

I'll start by throwing some of my snaps on the wall here, and then after a day or two of stewing (maybe more of a marinade) in my own juices I'll edit in some thoughts on the whole "Recoleta Cemetery Experience."

I also made a youtube video of the same visit:

Good god...I am beginning to understand why one out of a hundred people in BA are psychologists. How strangely convoluted and inbred it all seems. This has to be one of the great interior marvels of the world. I didn't know that the cemetery at Recoleta even existed.... Pheww.

Those photos are trippy, cool and mesmerizing. I love the ones that have the reflections in them.

I have to admit I never went to the cemetary. But I did go to Recoleta for the required Comme Il Faut pilgrammage. Now I wish I had done both.

Glad you liked them.

Yes, that is an unusual place.

I've been to Recoleta a lot of times (I like it up there and there's lots of fun bars, bistros and assorted eateries), but I have to admit I have not yet been to Comme Il Faut. :)

The girls that work at CIF are pretty cute. Be warned.

If they actually do have a pair in your size, you should get them. What a souvenir.

tb, I dunno, that'd be prety scary if they had a pair that would fit me. :) Do you happen to have their URL handy? When I google them, I just get various gringo re-dealers.

They don't have a website, and by mutual agreement, dealers are not allowed to post pictures of their shoes to protect their designs.

However, you can find their address in any of those tango magazines they give out for free with all of the milonga information.

Or just ask a female dancer there. Odds are she's already gone there or is planning a visit soon.

Hi. Yeah, I know where they are, up on Arenales. Was just curious.

I love the picks on the blog-something comes out in them that's different than the video.

Thanks, M, I'm glad you like them. It's interesting how still cameras and moving ones seem to aim themselves at a different vibe.

I did watch the youtube video on my iPhone on the way home, and was hoping for some spooky music or a Vincent Price impersonator commentary. I was a little disappointed in the production values so I went back and watched you unpack your groceries again. I'm assuming that the bottle of gin is gone now.

tb, how can you say these things to me? What about the sounds of the lurching crypt doors at the beginning, which I recorded at the cemetery itself? What about that song "Quien tiene tu amor?" What about the fact that I went inside some of these things to record clouds passing by overhead and to touch caskets, all for you?

The bottle is half full, indicating a lack of friends who love the finer moments, here in BA.

Oh, now I have hurt your feelings. I am so sorry. I think I was wanting more of a Disneyland Haunted House in-your-face kind of spooky experience.

Yes, now that I think about it, you have provided us with a very somber, artistic vision of Recoleta Cemetary. Perhaps you should have brought your bottle of gin with you, though.

However, if you really wanted to make a video for me, you would go to NeoTango, Darcos and some of the other tango shoe stores and make me a shoe movie. I would say Comme Il Faut but I know they wouldn't let you film in there. That would be like a shoe porno.
